Mushroom World Comics is expanding!
We’ve brought on a Marketing Strategist to help with content planning and posting consistency. One of the challenges I keep running into is trying to balance creating comic books with everything else that comes with running Mushroom World as a studio. Making the comics is obviously the heart of all this, but even sharing the behind‑the‑scenes work; the events, the progress, the planning, the day‑to‑day, has become its own full‑time job. I have been trying to grow the studio a

GSCF 2026 — Event Reflection
This past weekend was my first large convention of the year, and honestly, I’m proud I pulled it off. Conventions take a lot of work, and this one landed right as I started working with a Marketing Specialist, so my focus was split between preparing for the show and getting my studio systems ready for our strategy meetings. Even with all that going on, the event still came together. I handled the full setup and breakdown solo, which was exhausting. I definitely took longer th

June First Fridays in Press Plaza
This was the second First Fridays of the year, and thankfully the conditions were a bit more favorable. There was still some wind, but not nearly as much as last time. There was more daylight, more warmth, and I was able to put out more of my stuff. The event also seemed to be better attended, and there was definitely more engagement throughout the night. Even though that did not translate into higher sales, it still felt like a step forward. Same as last time, I made sure to

Rin's Comet Goes Digital
Rin’s Comet is officially coming to Webtoon and Tapas. The series will now be available as a digital comic that you can read one page at a time, with the goal of releasing a new page each week. Follow Rin Silverton as he navigates his new life in Redwood City, defending his friends from Obsidian while learning that it is ok to lean on others every once in a while. The Rin’s Comet Pilot is told over Parts I, II, and III, with the conclusion arriving later this year in Part IV.

Kicking Off First Friday's in Press Plaza
This First Fridays was different because it was outdoors. It was the first one of the year, in a new area, and I was ready to make some sales. It was my first time having my full table set up since probably the November First Fridays. I made sure to have my car packed before work so I could drive directly from there and set up as early as possible. Setting up still took some time, and the wind made everything difficult. At first I was nervous that I would not be able to put m

Brooklyn Indie Comics Showcase
BICS Brooklyn had a great energy, and I spent the day walking the floor, talking with creators, and getting a real feel for the convention. I was not vending this time. I wanted to see if this is a show I would want to table at next year, and after being there, I am completely sure that I do. The event reminded me a lot of Small Press Expo. Same creator‑focused atmosphere, same excitement around independent work, but with a more industrial vibe since it was held in a warehous

M.I.C.E.
MICE took place on December 8th and 9th, and even though I wasn’t a vendor this time, I really wanted to attend. Matt came with me again, and we woke up extra early to drive through a snowstorm to get to Boston. We still made it with enough time for breakfast before heading into Boston University as soon as the doors opened. Since we were only planning to stay for Saturday, I went in with a clear objective: find the artists I met at SPX. It felt good to reconnect with them, s

A Celebration of 16 Years - The Night Everything Came Together
November 15th, 2025 marked sixteen years of Rin’s Comet. Sixteen years since I started this dream, sixteen years of learning every part of comic making through trial, error, and determination. I knew I could not let the anniversary pass quietly. I wanted to honor the work, the people who supported it, and the version of myself who kept going even when it felt impossible. So I organized a celebration at the Asbury Park Brewery, a full night of music, art, and community. I book

First Fridays November - A Stillness Before The Final Countdown
November’s First Fridays had a different weight to it. Local Summer was long gone, Halloween already behind us, and the whole town felt a little muted in a way no one needed to say out loud. There was something in the air that everyone seemed to be carrying, a shared heaviness that settled over the night. Even so, the music helped. The Foes of Fern played and brought a small lift to the space, just enough to make things feel a bit lighter. This was also my first event back si

Rin's Comet Part III Production Complete
At two in the morning on October twelfth, I finally hit submit on the print order for Rin’s Comet Part III. It felt unreal to see the confirmation screen after spending most of the year working on this book in between Survifern planning, events, and everything else that pulled at my attention. This was the first comic I had finished since Lab Partners in 2023, and the first Rin’s Comet book since 2020. I worked more events this year than any other, and every time someone stop
